  • Ordering Issues

    Is there a minimum order on this website?

    No.  You must however purchase products in the quantity shown as a minimum order listed on each item.  In most cases it is 1.  Some items are only sold in multiples and those products are plainly shown with the minimum quantity required.

     

  • Will you send me a tracking number when my order has shipped?

    We make every effort to send you that information as soon as it becomes available.  Your order is shipped from the manufacturers warehouse and the availability of the tracking information varies by manufacturer.  Often, you will receive your order before we receive the tracking information.  If you need the information right away, email service @yourlightsite.com and we will request the information for you. 

  • How will I know if my items are in stock?

    As soon as we receive your order we verify the available stock at the manufacturer and place the order right away.  If you place your order after normal business hours, we process it the following morning or next business day.  If the items you order are not in stock we will email you immediately.  If you wish to order and wait for the items to ship when available, we can accommodate you.  We email you as soon as your order is placed to let you know the status and expected ship date.

  • Do you hold all of my order to wait on back-orders?

    Only if you make that request.  We instruct the warehouse to ship all available items and ship back-orders as soon as possible.  This policy can be modified to meet your wishes.  After we notify you of the inventory status, you may instruct us as to your wishes concerning back orders.

  • What if a having a back order causes me not to want the other items?

    We will not ship any portion of your order if you do not want to accept the order with back-orders.   Your entire order can be cancelled with no penalty if done that same day.  We will always let you know if any portion of an order is back-ordered and obtain you approval by email to proceed.   

     

  • How long will the back-orders take to come in?

    We always rely on the manufacturers for there best estimate to ship your items.  Occasionally there are unforeseen delays in products shipping.  We tell you exactly what the manufacturer's scheduled date is.  We cannot be responsible for delays in the date but will make every effort to keep you informed by checking frequently with the manufacturer.  W always obtain your approval before proceeding with an order with back-orders.

  • What if I want to cancel my order?

    You must notify us within 24 hours to cancel your order.  Because we try to get your order to you as soon as possible, we place the order with the manufacturer very quickly.  Each order is placed as it comes in and we have notified you of any back order issues.  You can always cancel at that time.    Once the order is in process at the manufacturer, it is difficult to cancel without incurring expenses.  If the order or any portion of it has not left the warehouse, in all probability it can be cancelled with no cost.  Our goal is to get your order to you as quickly as possible, so you must cancel within 24 hours.

  • Can I speak to a qualified Lighting Consultant before I order?

     

    Yes.  An ALA Lighting Consultant is available to answer any questions you may have.  We will gladly offer qualified advise before you purchase.  Lighting is our main focus and we have been successfully guiding customers in there selections for over 30 years. 

  • Is there a fee for cancelling? 

    Once your order has left the manufacturer's warehouse, there will be an expense to return it.  We only charge you the expenses that we incur in processing your request.  All manufacturer's require a re-stocking fee to cover their expense to handle returned items.   The fee varies by manufacturer and the return freight charges can be very expensive.  A return authorization must be obtained before any items can be returned.  Custom orders including some finishes are not returnable.  Contact us to discuss any return issues including the total expense involved.  We will represent you with the manufacturer to obtain the best possible return fee.  We do not profit from your cancellation. 

  • Payment Issues

     When is my credit card charged?

    When your order is placed on the website, your credit card information is verified and the purchase amount is authorized.  The actual charge occurs once the order is verified for available inventory and the order issued to the manufacturer.  You may request that we not bill back-orders until they are ready to ship.  If you are purchasing stock items, not custom or special orders, we can usually accommodate that request.  If the order involves items that will ship immediately and back-orders, the order will need to be separated into 2 orders so we can bill the shipped items right away.

  • Can I order without a credit card?

     

    Yes.  We will be happy to process your order with a personal check or money order.  Simply enter your order, make a copy and mail it to us with your payment.  Money order payments will be processed immediately and check payment orders will be processed as soon as your check is cleared.  This usually only takes 3-4 days.   You may also use Pay Pal on this web site. 

  • How do I use a coupon or gift certificate?

     

    There is a coupon box and a gift certificate box on the check-out page.  Simply enter the coupon code or the gift certificate number and it will be applied to your order.   You may also use any credit you have accumulated in your virtual wallet account if you are a registered user of Your Light Site. If you have a balance in the account, a box to enter the amount will show up at check-out.

  • What is a Virtual Wallet?

    Virtual Wallet is a feature of Your Light Site that accumulates credit in your personal account once you become a registered user of this web site.  Once a total of $500.00 has been purchased, a credit of $20.00 will automatically be added to your account.  You may use this credit any time against future orders.  The more you buy, the more you earn.  You may check you balance anytime by logging in and selecting Virtual Wallet from you personal list.

    It is one way we can say Thank You for shopping with Your Light Site.  

  • Is it safe to use my credit card on your web site?

    Yes, absolutely.  Your Light Site uses SSL (Secure socket layer )Technology.  Simply put, your credit card information is encrypted so it can't be read by anyone but Your Light Site.  Your personal information is also encrypted using a secure server provided by our hosting company.  This system processes millions of orders each month and is extremely safe to use.   We do not store your credit card information on our web site.  Once your order is processed through the system there is no remaing record of your number.   Our host and this web site must pass a rigourous security test each year to use the processing system.  Your information is safe with us.

  • What do you do with my personal information?

    We use your information to process and ship your order.  If you are a registered user, we use your information to make Your Light Site  benefit programs, such as virtual wallet, available to you.  We do not send spam.  We may occasionally email you with pertinent  and informative information.

    You can always opt-out of any emails from us and withdraw your registration at any time.

     

  • Shipping and Delivery Issues

     How long will it take to get my order?

    We process your order with the manufacturer within 24 hours of receipt.  Most Manufacturers will ship your order within 48 hours of the receipt at their facility.  If the item is a made to order, it may take up to 2-3 weeks before it ships.  Some items can take as long as 6 weeks to leave the factory.   Our experience is that most orders are received by you between 7-10 days.  There is no one answer to this question.  We will give you an estimate once the item's availability is assured.  Most estimates on our site are based on information provided by the manufacturer of a particular item. 

  • Can I request a faster shipping method?

    You may request UPS or Fed X , overnight, 2nd or 3rd day delivery of items available to ship by those methods.  Unfortunately, there is not a reliable way to expedite shipping for items by freight line.  For critical time shipments, some freight lines do offer more expeditious shipping at a very large cost.  You will be responsible for all shipping expenses other than the standard ground delivery.  To arrange expedited shipping, please call our toll free number, 1-800-910-3275 or email service@yourlightsite.com.

  • Do I have to sign for my order?

    UPS and Fed X ground shipments are usually left at the door, unless you specify otherwise.  Truck shipments must be received by the buyer or buyers agent.  We request a 24 hour notice for this delivery.  Your Light  Site is not responsible for expenses arising from multiple delivery attempts.  Please be sure to include several contact numbers for  truck shipments.

  • Should I schedule my contractor when I place my order?

    We advise that you do not schedule a contractor until you have received your merchandise.  This will avoid you being charged additional fees if the order doesn't show up in time.  Circumstances beyond our control can sometime delay a shipment.  Your Light Site is not responsible for any labor charges by contractors for any reason.

  • Damaged or Defective Merchandise Issues

     What if I have damaged or defective merchandise?

    First, be sure to inspect your items as soon as they arrive.  Report any hidden damage or defects to Your Light Site immediately.    Do not let your items sit unopened without inspection.  You have 14 days from receipt to report damaged merchandise.   Damaged or defective merchandise will be replaced and sent by the same shipping method as the original order.  If expedited shipping is required, you will be billed the difference.   If you refuse to accept a replacement, a 25% restocking fee will apply plus freight both ways.  A broken glass or shade will be sent t no charge.  There is no reason to return the fixture in most cases.   You will receive return instructions for sending back the damaged merchandise, at no cost to you.  

  • Can I return my entire order because part of it was damaged or defective?

    Not without paying a re-stocking charge on the entire order. 

  • When will I receive credit for my returns?

    Once the merchandise has been received by the manufacturer or Your Light Site, in acceptable condition as outlined in the return instructions you will be issued.  Once the inspection of the merchandise is complete, your credit card will be credited, less any applicable fees. as explained in the return authorization information that will be sent to you.

  • Pricing Issues

     What is UMP or MAP pricing?

    These are policies of the manufacturers that regulate at what minimum amount an item can be advertised.  This does not affect what the item can actually be sold for, but the advertising of the price.   Feel free to call us if you have any questions regarding the advertised price on this site,

  • Do you have a price matching policy?

    Yes.  We will gladly honor any price on the Internet as long as that price is not in violation of the advertised minimum policy for that manufacturer.   It cannot be an "in house" close out or returned item.  Please email us the advertised price and the advertising web site before you place an order.  If we find that it is a legally advertised price, we will be glad to honor that price. 

  • What is your policy when there are errors on the web site?

    We reserve the right to reject any order that contains erroneous information.  We make every effort to assure the accuracy of our information but mistakes do occur.  In most cases we will not reject an order unless it would result in a negative profit for Your Light Site.   Each order is reviewed by Your Light Site management and an order involving errors will be dealt with one on one with the customer.  Please review the terms and conditions page governing the operation of this web site for additional information covering errors and omissions.  

  • Do you offer contractor pricing for contractors and designers?

    Yes.  We can offer discounted pricing for trade members.  The discount varies by the quantity of items purchased, amount of the purchase and specific manufacturer.  Please call us or email service@yourlightsite to discuss special trade pricing.

    No.  Presently we offer,  products and services, with 30 years of extensive showroom experience, on-line only.

  • Why is my fixture different for the picture on your web site?

    All images on the web site are furnished by the manufacturer.  The color can vary from the actual finish of the fixture.  Your monitor can affect the appearance of the color of any image.  Shades can look different depending on weather the image was taken with the bulbs turned on or off.  Some finishes are hand applied and will vary from the photograph, with no 2 being exactly alike.   If you have a concern regarding color, and finish we recommend that you contact us for a color sample.  Samples are available from many manufacturers, but not all.  In the case of hand applied finishes, the sample is just a guide.  We are familiar with most manufacturers finishes and will be happy to give you our best impression and advice.
